Amman Kovil

Amman Kovil, dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi (an incarnation of Shakti), is centrally located in Ambalathara. Idols of Lord Ganesh, Madan Thampuran and Lord Nagaraja are also worshiped.

‘Vedi Vazhipadu,’ (sacred fire work) is the main ritual. On every Tuesday, Naranga Vilakku (oil lamp lit on lemon) is offered. Only women are allowed to perform this ritual.

A grand annual festival is celebrated during February–March. Villu Pattu, a traditional art form, is performed throughout the festival.

Ambalathara is about 4 km from East Fort. Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station, the nearest railhead, is around 5 km away from the temple.
