Althara Yakshiamman Temple




Althara Temple is located near Vellayambalam Junction in Thiruvananthapuram. This holy shrine is built around a big banyan tree. The main deity of the temple is Vadayakshi, popularly called as 'Yakshiamma' by the devotees.

Surrounding the banyan tree are separate niches for the deities of Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva, Lord Ayyappa, Nagaraja and goddess Durga. A Bhajan Hall is seen attached to the temple complex.

The main offerings of the temple are Aravana Payasam and Palpayasam. The annual festival is conducted in March.

Trivandrum International Airport(12 km) and Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station (5 km) are the nearest airport and railway station.
