Gavi



Gavi is a picturesque village located about 18 km from the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary at Thekkady in Idukki District. It is an ideal location for adventure enthusiastic. Gavi is ideal for activities such as trekking, night safaris, wildlife watching and outdoor camping. The government of Kerala has selected Gavi for an eco-tourism project. The Alistair International has listed Gavi among the prominent eco-tourism centers in the world.

Gavi is surrounded by tropical forests, valleys, breathtaking waterfalls and lush green lands. Nature lovers can explore the nearby sights such as Kullur, Kochu Pampa, Kullur, Gavi Pullumedu and Pachakanam. Nearby points of attractions are Vandiperiyar, Peerumedu, Mudakayam and Kuttikanam. Besides, this tourist paradise is enriched with more than 260 species of birds.

Camping and accommodation facilities are available. Tree top houses at Gavi provide a unique experience to the visitors. The nearest airport is at Madurai, about 140 km from here. Kottayam Railway Station is situated about 114 km away.
