Sree Agnibhairava Temple

Sree Agnibhairava Temple is located at Kavumbhagom in Pathanamthitta District of Kerala. Kavumbhagom is about 2 km from the M C Road (Main Central Road) on the Mannar route.

This beautiful temple is dedicated to Agnibhairav, a manifestation of Lord Shiva. It is a family temple of the Prabhu family of Thiruvalla. Mahanavami and the last day (41st day) of the Mandala Vritam are celebrated here.

Legend has it that a Brahmachari of the Prabhu family of Parayathukadu brought the idol and installed in a small temple. In 1923 AD, Krishna Prabhu renovated this temple and installed a new image of Agnibhairav.

Kavumbhagom is situated at Thiruvalla, which is 22 km south of Kottayam. Thiruvalla Railway Station, the only one in the district, is the nearest railhead.
