Puthencruz




Puthencruz, locally called as Puthenkurishu, is a small township, about 25 km east of Kochi.

The place is famous for the Malecuriz St George Dayro, a monastery. It is also the site of Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Center, the administrative headquarters for the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church. Puthencuriz is the meeting place of three major dioceses of the Syrian Orthodox Church. Majority of the people living in and around Puthenkurishu are Syrian Christians.

The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport, which is 35 km away.
