Pulluvanpattu




Pulluvanpattu is a form of devotional music sung during the ritual to worship serpent deities in central Kerala. The song is sung by the Pulluvar community. The ritual includes a ceremonial dance called Sarpam Thullal. The instrument used in accompaniment to the song is a fiddle-like instrument called Pulluvan Veena. This instrument is played by men belonging to the Pulluvar community. Women of the community play the percussion instrument called Pulluvan Kudam.
