Peruvannamuzhi Dam, a large project constructed in
Peruvannamuzhi, lies about 60 km away from
Kozhikode in
Kerala. The height of the project is 35 m and length is 173 km. The reservoir meets the drinking water needs of Kozhikode,
Quilandy and
Vadakara taluks.
Set in the middle of beautiful hills, it is a popular picnic spot. This picturesque site provides facilities for rowboat cruising and speed boating. Tourists witness the Smaraka Thottam, a garden built in memory of the freedom fighters of the region, during the boat cruises. The uninhabited islands, a bird sanctuary and a crocodile farm near the dam also attract more tourists.
Calicut Airport is about 22 km from Kozhikode. Regular buses connect the place with Kozhikode and Perambra.
