Shri Vadukunda Shiva Temple




Shri Vadukunda Shiva Temple, a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located in Madai village, Payangadi in Kannur District. It is believed that the temple was constructed by the ‘Kolathiri’ Kings during the medieval period on a plateau generally known now as 'Madai Para'. Lord Shiva is the main deity worshipped. Karuka Homam, mrithyumjaya homam, niramala and trikala pooja are the main offerings. The temple is about 22 km north of Kannur and 115 km from Calicut Airport. Kannur Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
