Cherutazham




Cherutazham, a tourist village, is located near Payyanur town. The place is associated with the former ruler Udayavaraman Kolathiri. Main attraction is an old temple known as Raghavapuram temple. The temple which is also famous as Hanumarambalam was constructed by Udayavaraman Kolathiri. This temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Ram. Lord Anjaneya, Parameshwara and Shri Durga Devi are also worshipped here. Cherutazham is also renowned as the birth place of Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair, the person who gave a new face to the traditional art form Kathakali.
