Rakthakanta Swamy Temple




Rakthakanta Swamy Temple is located at Omallur. It is 5 km from Pathanamthitta. The temple is also known as Omallur Ambalam. The temple is famous for its annual festival, the cattle fair. It is conducted during the Malayalam month of Meenam (March -April). People from both within and outside Kerala participate in the fair. The Thanka Anki procession on its way to Sabarimala visits this temple every year. During the festive season, devotees throng the temple in large numbers.

The places of interest nearby are Kadammanitta Devi Temple, Valanchuzhi temple on the banks of the Achankovil River and Kozhencherry. Chengannur is the closest rail head, 30 km from Pathanamthitta. It is also well linked with major cities and towns in Kerala by motorable road.
