Nelliyampathy Hills




A forest range 75 Kms from Palakkad, the Nelliyampathy hills contain a chain of ridges cut off from one another by valleys of dense evergreen forests and has a sprawling tea, coffee, cardamom and orange plantations. This charming hill station is at a height of 467 to 1572m above sea level. At least 12 hairpin bends have to be negotiated on the ghat road that passes through the breathtaking evergreen forests of Sahya Ranges. Seethakundu, at Nelliyampathy offers a panoramic view of about one third the area of Palakkad district. In this location one can see a superb waterfall from a height of 100m. Accessing Nelliyampathy from Palakkad is a sensation on its own, as one negotiate over a dozen hairpin curves on the Ghat road passing through the fascinating jungles of the Sahya Ranges. Nelliyampathy is a trekker’s paradise and has a community hall at Kaikatty, which provides a good camping ground for the trekkers. This tranquil cool hills of Nelliampathy, is located at a distance of 52 kms from Palakkad.
