Mudra



Mudra is a Sanskrit word with many meanings. It is used to signify a gesture, a mystic position of the hands, a seal, or even a symbol.

Mudras are commonly used in classical Indian dances. Gods and Goddesses in Hindu mythology are depicted showing different mudras.

As per Hindu tradition, there is a tremendous flow of energy in the hands and each finger represents one of the elements. The root cause of all diseases lie in the imbalance of anyone of the five elements. Apart from medicines, these impbalance can be cured by mudras.

There are eye positions, body postures and breathing techniques that are also called mudras. These symbolic finger, eye, and body postures can vividly depict processes of consciousness and cure certain ailments.
