Madapally Madhom

Madapally Madhom, a traditional nalukettu house, is located on the Palace Road near Anavathil in Mattancherry town. The center, which is the abode of peace and tranquility, is famous for its Ramnavami celebrations. Many well-known classical musicians and other artistes gather here during the festival. The entire houses (ten in number) in the Madhom join in the activity of keeping the tradition of bhajans and kirtanas alive.

There are many stories associated with this Madhom. Some people believe that it was given by the Raja of Kochi to his cook as a residence. At some later stage, the house converted into a trust and the Madapally Madhom Samooham here has scrupulously celebrated the Ramnavami festival with great fervor.

Mattancherry is about 10 km from Ernakulam Junction Railway Station. Frequent bus and ferry services connect the place with Ernakulam, the nerve center of Kochi city.
