Tali Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva
, is located near Manachira, in Kozhikode
. Tali Temple was built by Swami Thirumulpad (Zamorin) within his palace complex in the 14th century.
Built of wood and laterite, this temple is a rare example of Kerala style of architecture. A beautiful image depicting the momentous event of the Mahabharat battle can be seen in the sanctum. Formerly during the reign of Zamorins, Tali Temple was the venue of Revathi Pattathanam - an annual competition of pedagogic skills.
The central shrine of Lord Shiva is quadrangle in shape and the Shivling found here is 2 ft high. There are three rooms within the temple, with a number of excellent stone sculptures.
A major draw is the annual festival that lasts for seven days.
