Sreekandeswaraswamy Temple

Sreekandeswaraswamy Temple is located at the heart of Kozhikode. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is famous for its annual festival - Shivratri.

The annual festivities last for seven days. There are various cultural programs arranged by the temple authorities. The festival provides opportunities for many eminent artists and performers to exhibit their caliber.

The celebrations start with the Kodiyettam and the Ezhunnallathu is held for the next four succeeding days. The main attraction of the festival is the Theppolsavam on the sixth evening. During this function, the deity is taken to the temple pond. A grand procession with a traditionally ornamented elephant carrying the image of the deity is a spectacular view.
