Chavara




Chavara is 14 km north of Kollam and lies on the National Highway 47. The place is well known for the large deposit of mineral sand. Other important industrial establishments found at Chavara are the Indian Rare Earths, the Kerala Premo Pipe factory, Kerala Mineral and Metal factory, and Titanium Complex.

Kovilthottam port located here is a tourist attraction. The festival of lighted lamps called the Thalappoli Mahotsavom of Kottamkulangara Temple is very famous. It is celebrated in the month of March and April.
