Chenganikkattu Sreekrishna Swami Kshetram




Chenganikkattu Sreekrishna Swami Kshetram is a revered shrine located at Aloor in Thrissur District of Kerala. It is about 2 km away from Kodakara and can be approached on the Kallettumkara route from Thrissur.

Managed by the Pisharodi, the history of the temple dates back over 1000 years. There is an interesting story behind the name of the temple. It is said that saint Ganga did meditation at this place and at that time it was known as Gangamunikadu. Later the name shortened to Chenganikkattu.

The presiding deity of the temple is Santanagopala (Lord Krishna). The sub-deities are Lord Ganesh, Lord Ayyappa, Durga, Bhadrakali and Nagaraja.

The main offering of the temple is the ‘Tiruvona Ootu’. Other offerings include Kadalipazha Naivedyam and Venna Naivedyam.
