Madayi Mosque

Madayi Mosque is a beautiful ancient mosque situated in Madayi Village in Kannur District. It was built in 1124 by Malik Ibn Dinar, a Muslim preacher.

The mosque is said to be more than a thousand years old and has been rebuilt in the Indo-Saracen style of architecture. A block of white marble kept in the mosque is believed to have been brought from Mecca by its founder, who came to India to spread the message of Prophet Mohammed.

A dilapidated fort is situated near this mosque. The fort is believed to have been built by Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore. The Mosque is about 22 km from Kannur and 115 km from the Calicut Airport. Nearest railway station: Kannur Railway Station.
