Irula Dance

Irula Dance is performed by Irulas, a tribal community in Attappadi of Palakkad District. It is generally played during the harvest season. Irula Dance is related to Malleeswara, a local deity.

This dance is performed around the camp fire. It is played by both men and women, and the group generally consists of 10-12 dancers. When the dance reaches the climax, all the members including children participate in it.

Para, Thakilu and Kuzhal are the musical instruments used in accompaniment of the dance.
