Vadakkunnathan Temple




Vadakkunnathan Temple is situated at Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala. It is built in classic Kerala style architecture. Lord Shiva, Parvati, Sankaranarayana, Lord Ganesh, Lord Ram, and Lord Krishna are worshipped here. Exquisite wood carvings can be seen in the main shrine and the Koothambalam. It is believed that the temple was founded by Parashurama, an incarnation of Lord Krishna. Every year in the month of April and May, a spectacular show called the Thrissur Pooram is conducted in the temple premises. Thousands of people gather here to see this marvelous show.
