Irinjalakuda, located 20 km south of
Thrissur, is the center of the cultural and social movements of
Kerala. Declared as a municipality in 1936, its oldest name was Irinjalikoodal. Unnayi Warrier Smaraka Kala Nilayam,
Mahatma Gandhi Library, Natanakairaly, Viswanathapuram Temple, St Thomas Cathedral, St Joseph's Women's College and Christ College are situated here.
The nearest airport is Cochin International airport and the main railway station is Thrissur Railway Station. Taxis and buses are available from Thrissur to Irinjalakuda.
