Gundert Bunglow

Gundert Bunglow is a beautiful building with tiled roof, situated at Illikunnu in Kannur District of Kerala. It is the place, where the first Malayalam dictionary and Malayalam Newspaper, the Paschimodayam, took shape.

The building is of historical importance as it was the house of Dr Herman Gundert, the German missionary, who lived here for 20 years from 1839. This bungalow is now a part of the Nettur Technical Training Foundation, a unique institution started by the Swiss Foundation.

Illikunnu is about 20 km from Kannur near Thalassery town.
