It houses the temple of Lord Narasimhamoorthy and Lord Mahasudarsanamoorthy, commonly called as Thuravoor Mahakshethram. Thuravoor is also the community area of gowda Saraswat Brahmin community.

Thuravoor Railway Station ( Turavur Railway Station) is a minor station on the Kayamulam-Alappuzha-Ernakulam line. Nearest major railhead is at Alappuzha.
