East Fort

Touched by the majestic splendour of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, rests the vibrant place named East Fort. East Fort is situated between Manacaud and Statue. Basically the busiest part of Thiruvananthapuram, it has the good fortune of being the abode of Lord Padmanabha (Lord Vishnu).

The term East Fort is derived from the massive forts which surround the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The Fort on the eastern side measures 20 ft in height and the temple faces the eastern side of the Fort, which accounts for its name.

This main part of Thiruvananthapuram is surrounded by offices, business and shopping centers, parks and temples. Major landmarks include State Transport Commissioner Office, Gandhi Park, Chalai Bazar, Putharikandam Maidanam, Kuthiramalika Palace Museum, CVN Kalari Sangham, Attukal Shopping Complex and Revenue Divisional Office.
