Dhanwanthari Temple is located at Nelluvai, a typical village in
Thrissur District of
Kerala.
Lord Dhanwanthari, referred to as the lord of Ayurveda, is the chief deity here. It is believed that this deity has the power to cure all kinds of diseases. Vennachartal and Palpayasam are the main offerings of the temple.
Thousands of devotees assemble here on the occasion of Swargavathil Ekadashi, which falls during the Malayalam month of
Dhanu.
Mukkudi Nivedyam, a medicine prepared in a new earthen pot, is served on this occasion. Other highlights of this event are Panchavadyam and Dhanwanthari Sangeetolsavam.
