Kanjirappally

Located on the foothills of the Western Ghats, Kanjirappally is a small town in Kottayam District. The town derives its name from the Kanjiram tree, once abundant here. Kanjirappally is also described as ‘the Queen of Malanad’ (the land of mountains) and ‘the Gateway of Malanad’. Earlier it was an excellent trade junction among the commercial centers of the east and the west. The main highlights are Kanjirappally Pazhayapalli (St Mary's old church), St Dominic's Cathedral, Ganapathiyar temple, and Nainaru mosque.

Kanjirappally is 40 km east of Kottayam town. The closest air terminal is Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery.
