Bhoothathankettu



Bhoothathankettu is a perfect picnic spot located about 50 km north-east of Ernakulam, in Kerala. Surrounded by peaceful forests, it is a picturesque dam site with boating facilities.

It is believed that the dam located here was built by the Bhoothams (spirit/ghosts) using the rocks, hence the name Bhoothathankettu.

Thattekad Bird Sanctuary lies in the catchments area of the dam. The Periyar Valley Irrigation Project and the Idamalayar Irrigation Project are situated nearby.

Ernakulam Junction Railway Station is about 50 km away. Cochin international Airport is about 26 km from Ernakulam town.
