Bharananganam is a village located about 5 km east of Pala on the Kottayam - Erattupetta Road, Kottayam District. The place has a distinctive rural charm about it and is home to people who have for generations remained rooted to the soil. The place is blessed by the Meenachil River. The 100 year old Bharananganam Church or St Mary\'s Church, where the mortal remains of Sister Alphonsa are preserved, is situated here.
