Ambukuthi Hill




Ambukuthi Hill is located close to Ambalavayal town in Wayanad District of Kerala, about 10 km south of Sulthan Bathery. The excavations held in and around the foot of this hill have unearthed a distinctive series of fascinating cave sites called Muniyaras. Among these, the historic Edakkal Caves are important. Remnants of Stone Age tools and pottery have also been excavated from this hill.

One can reach the top of the hill only after trekking 5 km from Ambalavayal. Ambalavayal Heritage Museum and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary are the nearest tourist attractions.

The nearest airport is Calicut Airport and the major railway junction is Kannur Railway Station.
