Aluva Shiva Temple

Aluva Shiva Temple is located on the banks of Periyar River at Aluva in Ernakulam District. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva.

The specialty of this temple is that the Shivlinga installed in the temple is not enshrined in any pagoda, but stands on the vast sand banks. It is believed that the Shivlinga has risen out from the sand on the bank of the river.

The unique feature of this temple is that it is the venue of the famous Aluva Shivratri, the main annual festival celebrated in the temple. Along with the festival, there will be a month long trade fair.
