Parthasarathy Temple




Parthasarathy Temple is centrally located near the KSRTC bus station at Adoor, Pathanamthitta District. The presiding deity is Lord Krishna, known here in the name of Parthasarathy.

The main festival celebrated is the Ashtamirohini, the birthday of Sri Krishna. The annual celebrations last for ten days. During the festival various art forms such as Parichamuttukali, Mayooranritham, Ammankudam and Velakali are performed. Ottanthullal and a few other art forms are also staged on the final day.

The highlight of the annual festival is the Gajamela, elephant processions, on the concluding day. Nine majestically caparisoned elephants take part in this spectacular procession, which culminates at Chennapatti temple, 3 km away.
