Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple

Rajarajeswari Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Mullakkal, 3 km from KSRTC Bus Station, in Alappuzha. The chief deity is Goddess Rajarajeswari. The temple celebrates two annual festivals - the Navratri festival (October/November) and the Thaipooyakavadi festival.

The nine-day long Navratri festival held is of special significance. To add the colorfulness of this festival, there are processions in which caparisoned elephants take part. Several cultural programs such as ottanthullal and kathakali are staged. A peculiar section of the Thaipooyakavadi (one-day ceremony) is the largest assemblage of 'Kavadis'.
