Annigeri




30 km from Hubli, Annigeri was once the headquarters of the famous rich state of Belvola-300 and was the capital of Chalukya Someshwara 4. The place is famous for Kalyani Chalukyan temple of Amriteshwara, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built of black stone, the architectural fineness of the temple can be seen on its seventy six decorated pillars. Many other places of worship around Annigeri are the Veerashaiva Mutts, a ruined Banashankari temple, a Jain basadi of Parshwanatha, seven mosques and also an ancient Veerabhadra temple.
