Gurupura




Gurupura village is situated at Hunsur taluk in Mysore District of Karnataka. It is 81 km west of Mysore. Gurupura is a part of the Rabgayling settlement of Tibetans. This settlement was established in 1972 for providing shelter to the Tibetan refugees. This settlement is visited by the Dalai Lama each year.

The main occupation of the refugees is agriculture. The place is also renowned for Gurupura Tibetan Carpets.

Gurupura is home to the Zongkar Choede Monastery, which houses the famous Gurupura Tantric University. Another attraction is the Nagarhole National Park situated nearby.

Gurupura is served by the Mysore Junction Railway Station.
