Ghataprabha River

Ghataprabha originates from the Western Ghats, at an altitude of 584 m above the sea level. After flowing eastwards for about 283 km, it eventually merges with the River Krishna. The river takes a 53 m plunge to form the Gokak Falls in Belgaum District, offering a most enchanting sight. The trail of the Ghataprabha and its tributaries in the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra accounts for a total catchment area of about 8,829 sq km.
