Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, was founded by Kempe Gowda and was known as 'Bengaluru' (place of baked beans). The fifth largest city in India and the headquarters of Bangalore District, the city is a perfect blend of natural beauty and man-made marvels. Bangalore, a cosmopolitan city, is the IT capital of India and one of the most industrialized cities in the country. Unlike the other cities of south India, Bangalore has nightlife.

Point of attractions are Vidhana Soudha, Attara Kacheri, Bangalore Palace, Fort and Tipu Sultan palace, Venkatappa Art Gallery, ISKCON Temple, Bull Temple, Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Aquarium (second largest in the country) and Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. Cubbon Park and Lalbagh gardens are renowned places of recreation. The flower shows held twice a year at the magnificent Victorian style glass house is a major event.

The places of interest nearby are Bannerghatta National Park, Nrityagram Dance Village, Brindavan Whitefield Ashram (Sai Baba's Ashram), The Big Banyan Tree, and Nandi Hills.

The bazaars and shopping malls of Bangalore are a happy hunting ground for tourists. The oldest and most important festival in Bangalore is ‘Karaga festival’.

Bangalore International Airport is well connected by air to major cities in India. Bangalore has two railway stations - the Bangalore Cantonment and the City Station. The Central Bus Station is located in front of the city railway station.
