Kroda Giri

Kroda Giri is a hill in the Shankaranarayana village, to the east of Kundapura in Karnataka, near the Shankaranarayana Temple. It is believed to be the place where Kroda Maharishi meditated Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu together. The cave in which Kroda Maharishi engaged in religious contemplation is seen atop Kroda Giri. The cave is 6 foot wide and with a 2-feet wide entrance. Pleased with the Maharishi’s meditation, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu together came to this place as Shankaranarayana and destroyed the demons Kharasura and Rattasura who were troubling the people.

Kundapura Railway Station is the nearest railway station. Shankaranarayana village is connected by road to Udupi.
