Hulekal is located in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka. This town is 18 km north of Ammenalli and 23 km south of Ramanguli, a town on National Highway 63.

Sonda, a beautiful tourist place with many monuments, is around 5 km north-east. Sirsi, a peaceful town dotted with terracotta-tiled houses and ancient Hindu and Jain temples, is 13 km south-east.

Karwar is around 75 km north-west. Hubli Airport is the nearest airport. Closest railhead is Gokarna Road Railway Station.
