Shri Malkhed Teerth




Shri Malkhed Teerth, a Jain temple, is located at Malkhed in Gulbarga District. The presiding deity is Bhagvan Neminath.

A 9th century temple, the Teerth has beautiful carvings on its pillars and walls. There are idols of Jain Tirthankars, choubisi (24 Tirthankars) Nandishwar dwip and idols of yakshi. A small temple of Panchdhatu (mixture of 5 metals), with 96 images of Tirthankars, is very attractive. One can see the images of 13 Tirthankars in padamasan posture, depicted on the sides of the Nanidshwar dwip. This temple also has the metal idols of 14 Tirthankars.
