Brahmavar




Located at about 13 km north of Udupi, Brahmavar, which literally means 'a settlement of Brahmins' is an ancient cultural center of the region. Major points of attraction in the region are the three temples - the 9th century Mahalinga temple, Gopinatha temple, and the Janardhana shrine in the agrahara. Handadi, the settlement of the Hande family is another point of tourist interest. Hundreds of tourists visit this place every year.
