Biswanath Ghat




Biswanath Ghat, one among the oldest landmarks of Assam, is situated near Biswanath Chariali in Sonitpur District. This sacred place is well mentioned in the 9th century Kalika Purana as a place where Lord Vishnu killed the demon Haya-Griva. Nearby lies Biswanath Temple popularly known as Gupta Kashi. Considering the holiness of this place, people come here in large number from far and near places.

Bishwanth Ghat is about 80 km from Tezpur. The nearest railway station is at Biswanath Chariali.
