Bhatkal




At a distance of 126 km from Karwar, Bhatkal is a popular picnic spot situated in the southern most tip of Uttara Kannada district. It was the main port of the Vijayanagar Empire in the 16th century. Two ancient temples here - the Jain Chadranatha Basadi and a 17th century Vijayanagar temple, noted for the unique and exquisite carvings, are noteworthy. August to March is the best season to visit this place.
