Kamal Basadi

Kamal Basadi is one of the two basadis situated inside the Belgaum fort. Constructed in the Chalukya style, it was built in 1204 by Bichirja, a minister of Kartavirya IV of the Ralta Dynasty. This Basadi worships a 200 year old idol of Bhagwan Neminath seated on a stone-carved throne. Kamal Basadi has beautiful carvings on its pillars and the top is adorned with a lotus of 72 petals. There are beautiful idols of Bhagvan Sumatinath, Bhagvan Adinath, and Bhagvan Parshwanath and the idols of Navagraha. It is now under the jurisdiction of the Archeological Department of India.
