Barkur




Barkur is a small coastal town situated between Udupi and Kundapura in Udupi District, Karnataka. It was once a flourishing commercial and industrial center with a seaport, which carried out trade with European countries.

Barkur Fort, built during the period of Vijayanagara Kings, is the prominent attraction. Sri Bairagi Ganapathi Temple, Batte Vinayaka Temple, Sri Kalikamba Temple and Church of St Peter are other places worth visiting.

Barkur Railway Station serves this area. Mangalore Airport is the nearest airport.
