Someshwara Temple at Ulsoor




The ancient temple, Someshwara Temple is a magnificent temple of the Chola period located at Ulsoor one of the older areas of the city. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva. Other deities are Kamakshamma, Arunachaleswara, Bhimeswara, Nanjundeswara and Panchalingeswara. The architectural marvel of the Cholas is evident from the shimmering rajagopuram (tower), dhwajastambha (massive pillar), multiple pillars and scriptures inscribed on the walls of the temple. The temple celebrates Shivratri, 125413Brahmotsava and Kamakshamma Pallaki festivals. Now the temple is under the purview of Endowment Department of the Karnataka Government.

Ulsoor is located at the eastern side of Bangalore. Bangalore is well linked by road and rail with Hyderabad (565 km) and Vijayawada (719 km) and Mangalore (349 km).
