Bagalkot




Located on the banks of Ghataprabha River, Bagalkot is a major center of trade, commerce, education ad manufacturing industries-especially cement. It is the headquarters of the newly formed district of Bagalkot. It was known earlier as Bagadage-the headquarters of the Chalukyas. The main temples in this town are those of Shri Bhavani, Panduranga and Kothalesh. There is a famous mosque called the Panka Masjid, which is the finest example stone structure and is worth visiting. In and around the town, there are many interesting places including Aihole (46 km), (66 km), Pattadakal (63 km) and Kudala Sangama (38 kms).

Bagalkot is well connected to other cities and towns by road and rail. It has a railway station. The nearest airport is at Belgaum.
