Tomb of Baba Budan




Tomb of Baba Budan is housed in a cave on the Baba Budan Ranges of Chikmagalur District. Baba Budan, a sufi saint, is the person who brought the first coffee seeds from Arabia to India. The cave is considered sacred by the Hindus and Muslims of Chikmagalur. This cave is also considered to be the abode of Lord Dattatreya. According to the Hindu belief the final avatar of Lord Vishnu will appear at this cave. The best time to visit this place is March to May. Free boarding and lodging are available throughout the year for pilgrims.

Chikmagalur town is 251 km from Bangalore. Athigundi is the principal village on the Baba Budan Ranges. A motorable road connects this place with all the nearby towns throughout the year. Regular buses and trains are available from Chikmagalur to Bangalore, Mangalore and Hassan. The nearest airport is at Mangalore. (170 km).
