Simdega District



Carved out from Gumla District in April 2001, Simdega is a south-western district of Jharkhand. It is bounded by West Singhbhum District in the east, Gumla District in the north, Jashpur District of Chhattisgarh in the west, Sundargarh District of Orissa in the south. The district spans an area of about 3,756 sq km of land and is headquartered at Simdega. The main areas of interest in the Simdega District include Bhutkuria and Tongri caves, Kolebira and Bolba - noted for its black Bengal goat farm. Sankha River flows through this district. National Highway 23 has its route through this district via Simdega and Thethaitangar.
