Also known as Tenu, Tenughat is located in Bokaro District of Jharkhand. Bokaro, the district headquarters, is about 18 km east of Tenu.
The place is noted for the Tenughat Bird Sanctuary. Other premier landmarks are Tenughat College, Tenughat Dam and Tenughat Thermal Power Station. Aiyar, Gumia and Petarbar are nearby towns.
The State Capital, Ranchi is around 66 km south-west. Gumia Railway Station and Ranchi airport are the closest railhead and airport respectively.
