Ghatsila

Ghatshila is a picturesque town situated about 36 km from Tatanagar and 37 km from the east of Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum District of Jharkhand, on the banks of the Subarnarekha. There are numerous stones scattered on the banks of the river and from this the place derives its present name.

Ghatshila is the birth place of the famous writer, Bibhuti Bhushan Bandopadhyaya. In and around the town lie several tourist places including Pancha Pandava hill, Dahijora, Dharagiri Falls, Phuldungri Mountain, Galudih Resort Center and Musabani. About 9 km away from Ghatsila at Burudih is an artificial lake surrounded by hills on all sides. Numerous timber industries flourish here.

Ghatshila is well connected to other cities and towns by road and rail. Buses ply regularly between Jamshedpur and Ghatshila.
